The Riddle of Faith
The Riddle of Faith
Finding Hope In Times of Trouble
Dale and Tamson kick off season 4 by discussing how Christians can be hopeful in the midst of circumstances that might seem hopeless and discouraging. Dale remembers a sermon he used to preach called "Characteristics of the Church" taken from a story in Luke chapter 5, where four friends take a paralyzed man to Jesus. The friends exhibited characteristics that Dale believes should be evident in all Christians. Here's a summary of characteristics (the 5 "c's"):
- Compassion - the friends noticed a suffering person and were moved
- Concern - the friends cared enough to take action
- Conviced - they were convinced Jesus could help
- Combined - they combined efforts to get the man to Jesus
- Continued - they did not let obstacles stop. them - they continued until they got the man to Jesus.
Jesus blessed their faith, healed the man and forgave his sins, and even the skeptics in the room were in awe and praised God.
May we all be reminded of the hope we have in Christ.
